Do Solar Screens still protect from insects like Mosquitoes?Yes! Solar Screens protect against insects and can replace regular insect screening on windows, doors, and porches.
-
Why are Solar Screens a better choice than window films or awnings? The film is an interior application not designed for windows. It is not nearly as effective as Solar Screens and voids out all window warranties, as it is damaging to sealed thermal pane windows. Awnings are expensive, not cost-effective, provide no security or privacy, and do not offer protection 100% of the time. Both of these alternatives offer no energy savings year-round or in the winter.
-
Will people be able to see into my house? No! One of the many advantages of Solar Screens is the privacy and security Solar Screens provide by obscuring the outside view when someone is trying to look either from afar or close-up.
-
Is one color of the Solar Screen better at reducing heat and light than another? All colors provide significant heat reduction when installed on the exterior, but dark colors are better at reducing glare and improving outward visibility.
-
How is airflow affected when using solar screens? While airflow is diminished compared with standard insect screens, Solar Screens still allow good airflow.
-
Can solar screens be installed on the inside of the window? While you can place Solar Screens on the inside, placing them outside the window is recommended to prevent the heat from hitting the glass and permeating through. If you don't have the option to install solar screens outside the window, consider a Roll Up Solar Shade designed to be mounted indoors or outdoors.
-
Can the solar screens be easily cleaned?Yes, they only need an occasional cleaning with mild soap and water. Solar Screens are also mildew and fade resistant.
-
Do I need to remove the solar screens in the wintertime?Solar Screens should remain in place even during cooler months to protect carpets, drapes, and furniture from damaging UV rays. However, if passive solar heat gain is desired in the winter months, the screens can be removed and stored until springtime.
